SMAN 22 Jakarta Students Create Lanterns for Chinese New Year Decoration

As many as 30 students of SMAN 22 Jakarta, Jl. Kramat Asem, Utan Kayu, Matraman, East Jakarta seemed enjoy to paint the lanterns with various colors and designs.

I hope it will turn out great and enliven the Chinese New Year celebration

Some of them draw scenery on the lanterns, while the others choose to draw Chinese zodiac sign and paint it with attractive colors.

One of the students in grade 12, Sisi Amalia expressed her happiness to be a part in enlivening the Chinese New Year celebration in Jakarta. She and her friends create 30 lanterns for Chinese New Year decoration.

"It makes me happy because this is the first time I make a lantern. I hope it will turn out great and enliven the Chinese New Year celebration," she said, Tuesday (1/21).

SMAN 22 Headmaster, Agus Wahyu Sutopo explained, his side assigned each students to create 1 lantern and paint it for two days.

Within these two days, students ignite their creativity to make beautiful lanterns. They done it by themselves, from preparing the materials, putting together the lantern frames, designing and painting the canvas cloth for the lantern.

"It not only gives them new experience in making lantern, but also gives them responsibility," he assessed.
